Check your vision … and your mission, and values

Published over 2 years ago • 2 min read

It is wise to review your personal and professional vision, mission, and values from time to time.

Vision is an ideal state in the distance, just out of reach. If you haven’t revisited your vision in a long time, you may have surpassed it, and it might now be behind you. Or you may have drifted way off course.

Your mission can change fairly regularly depending on many different internal or external factors. Conditions change, and you may find your mission needs alterations to fit the current circumstances better.

Your values can change too, but not often. Of the three, your values should hold firm, like Excalibur. Your values are not situational, so always be deliberate and thoughtful before deciding to replace them.

It was time to review and renew our company vision, mission, and values at Karl Bimshas Consulting. We are in the leadership business, and our vision now reaches higher.

Our values remain unchanged; however, our mission has evolved - and it should have. We are in a global pandemic, democracy is waning, economic uncertainty abounds, and a cohort of freshly-minted adults are ready and willing to shake up the status quo on several issues that prior generations have woefully neglected. Based on the last couple of years, if your company hasn’t reconsidered its mission, what the hell are you waiting for to happen? Make changes, demand changes, or find a new organization that better matches your worldview.

Our most significant concern is who we are focused on assisting with leadership development and accountability. We serve the underestimated, overwhelmed professionals who have started feeling discouraged. We can not afford to lose the unique talents they bring to leadership positions in business, home, charitable, and governmental settings. To thrive over the next few years, we need a rapid increase of effective leaders - now - to offset the plethora of lousy leaders we have all witnessed and experienced for far too long.

Below is our revised vision, mission, and values.

KARL BIMSHAS CONSULTING

IS IN THE LEADERSHIP BUSINESS

Vision

To create environments where great leaders outnumber lousy leaders and better leadership is the norm, not the exception in businesses, homes, charities, and capitals throughout the nation.

Mission

Our leadership development and accountability style turns underestimated, overwhelmed professionals who have started feeling discouraged into confident, competent leaders without becoming jerks.

We do this by

  • Maximizing existing strengths with customized leadership agendas.
  • Improving decision-making in ways that support stated vision, purpose, and values.
  • Increasing versatility by sharing straightforward leadership models, styles, behaviors, and tools.
  • Challenging, disrupting, and reducing the negative influence of lousy leaders.

Values

LeadershipLike water, leadership can take many forms. We prefer those who demonstrate strong moral character and the confidence to lead, follow, and teach.

LoveThe antidote to indifference, fear, greed, and hate is love, which is the foundation of our interactions.

CandorWe communicate openly and honestly even when the subject is difficult.

CreativityWe supply imagination, perspective, and inventiveness to solve problems and produce results.
